FLAGSHIP PROGRAM · STATE OF HOPE GRANT
Youth Navigator Project
A 12-week intervention combining CBT therapy, mentoring, and skills workshops for adjudicated and at-risk youth from Atlanta Public Schools. Spring 2025 served 16 youth — Fall 2025 expands to 20.
THE THREE-PRONGED APPROACH

How the Youth Navigator Project works.

CBT Mentoring
Bi-weekly mentoring meetings with clinically trained social work students. Topics: communication, problem-solving, coping skills, academic performance, college prep, and college tours to AUC and GSU.
CBT Therapy Sessions
Individual TF-CBT therapy conducted virtually, in-office, or school-based by licensed clinicians. Treats anxiety, depression, PTSD using the PRACTICE Model and Family Emotional System Therapy.
CBT Skills Workshops
Group workshops using the TF-CBT PRACTICE Model. Educational, culturally responsive, client-centered. Includes a culminating youth-led showcase each semester.

2016–2018
Atlanta Public Schools
Washington High School — "Who Knows It" Program
A 12-week youth development project addressing the underrepresentation of Black girls in STEAM. Grew from 8 students to a 20-student service-learning cohort funded by the State Farm Youth Advisory Board.
2022–2024
DeKalb County Schools
McNair High School Safe Center Mentoring
Paired high school students with college mentors for academic and socioemotional development. 55+ mentoring sessions and a college tour for 40 students. Dr. Davis led professional development workshops at DCSD retreats.
2023–Now
Fulton County Juvenile Court
Court-Involved Youth Interventions
Under Judge Caren Cloud and the Probation Office, we deliver mental health services and mentoring to adjudicated youth while supporting their families through parent education. Weekly meetings with court staff to modify interventions collaboratively.
2025
Georgia State of Hope Grant
Youth Navigator Project Launch
Spring 2025 cohort: 12 adjudicated and 4 at-risk APS students. Outcomes include consistent therapy attendance, reduced truancy, re-enrollment after expulsion, and court mandate compliance. Fall 2025 cohort expands to 18-20 youth.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS

How we know it's working.

All data is tracked through SimplePractice, a HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system. Bi-weekly, monthly, and end-of-project reports are disseminated via password-protected, encrypted files.

Mental Health Records
Pre- and post-screenings from diagnostic instruments.
School Records
Enrollment, attendance, discipline, and grades.
Whole Child Meetings
Collateral information from WCI meetings with school staff.
Participation
